At Regent Property, we are London experts and cover everywhere within the M25. This week we’re putting the spotlight on South West London with our Fulham area guide.
The London Borough of Bromley sits south of the River Thames and is popular with young families and commuting professionals alike. Although it’s only a 15-minute journey into central London, it’s also a world away with its leafy green charm.
Local Amenities
- Bromley High Street has a Charter Market every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday which has been at the heart of the community for over 800 years.
- The borough is home to a number of libraries – Central Library has a great selection of reading groups and events for children and adult bookworms alike.
- For the fitness conscious, the Pavilion Leisure Centre has a great pool and fitness centre offering lots of different classes – as well as a bowling alley and a café.
- If taking advantage of the lovely green spaces outdoors to exercise is more for you, there are lots of playing fields and golf courses and Bromley Cricket Club – where you can also play tennis, squash, and racketball.
Local Schools
Bromley is incredibly popular with young families, and with such fantastic education establishments locally, it doesn’t come as a surprise.
Highfield Junior School is for pupils aged 7-11 and has an excellent reputation within the local community, as does Highfield Infant School. There are also a number of great secondary schools in the local area. Academies, grammar schools, and private schools – there’s something for everyone.
Local Cafes
Just opposite the Bromley South Station is The Glades Centre, which has a number of shops and eateries, including Joe’s Kitchen – an independent coffee house and restaurant with fresh food and friendly staff.
Transport
Rail: Bromley has two mainline train stations. From Bromley South, you can travel to London Victoria in approximately 15 minutes and there are trains to Grove Park from Bromley North, where there are connections to Charing Cross.
Bus: There are good local bus links that serve Lewisham, Orpington, Croydon, and Crystal Palace
Green Spaces
Bromley is a fantastic area for green spaces, with the Friends of Bromley Town Parks and Gardens – a group of volunteers – working alongside the London Borough of Bromley to ‘secure the preservation and enhancement of the parks and gardens adjacent to the centre of Bromley’.
Church House Gardens are incredibly popular, with a lake, excellent play park facilities, free tennis courts, a skatepark, and a tree trail.
A £90 million development is underway in Bromley South which will include 200 residential apartments, a nine-screen cinema, nine retail units and a 400 space underground car park.
If you think with its green spaces and commuter links Bromley could be the area for you, we currently have fantastic apartments to let right next door to Bromley South station. For more information, please call Lettings Manager Ahmed on 020 8743 9101
